We all need need to feel and be part of our community to thrive. We need opportunities to meet other people, to be acknowledged, to laugh, to be included and to be missed when we are not there.
At Southcare, we provide opportunities and connections to be social whether it’s one-on-one, in groups, at home or out, through our Social Centre, Community Visitors service or through other aged care social support services.

Community Visitors Service
For many years now, Volunteers from Southcare have been visiting elderly people in the community who are lonely or whose quality of life could be improved by regular friendship and companionship. It is often a rewarding experience for both the visitor and the aged person receiving them.
The visit is social in nature and may be at the aged person’s home or in an aged care facility. It may involve a chat over a cup of tea, a walk around the garden or reading a book together. Perhaps the aged person has mobility limitations, health difficulties or is shy at first. Our Volunteers understand that and will do their best to make the visit pleasant and comfortable. Visits may be one-to-one or be a visit with two aged persons at the same time.
All Southcare’s Volunteers are police cleared and receive training to provide this community service. Southcare’s Community Visitors service is funded by the Federal Government and available to our customers, follow this link if you would like to know more about getting aged care services.
